Jack, 87yo with Double All-on-4 Dental Implants and New Smile!
This is Jack Bruce, an 87-year-old patient who came to our office hoping for a dental solution that would be better than losing his teeth and wearing dentures. He told us during his initial consultation that he just wanted to enjoy his remaining years and be able to smile and eat anything he desired.
Thankfully, even at his advanced age, Jack has good bone structure and we were able to propose a full-mouth, Guided Smile All-on-4 treatment.
The planning began with a CT scan during his consultation. Based on the results, we were able to determine that 12 implants could be strategically placed in the upper and lower jaw bones. When Jack arrived he had little hope that he would have any treatment options beyond dentures. We were excited to give him the good news that he was a great candidate for full-mouth replacement with implants.
After the diagnostic records appointment, it takes about three weeks to prepare the 3D printed, chrome surgical guides for this type of case. When they were ready, we scheduled Jack for a one-day surgery lasting only a few hours. For the procedure, he was safely put to sleep in our VIP surgical suite by our anesthesiologist, Dr. Atwood.
Take a look at Jack’s before and after pictures to see the dramatic change in one’s smile that can be achieved with a one-day surgery visit.
Note that the after photos were taken just seven days following Jack’s procedure. He commented at the time that he only experienced mild discomfort for the first day or two, and only needed to take Ibuprofen to manage the discomfort. Jack is a retired police officer from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. He said he had experienced much worse in his years of service and couldn’t believe how easy it was to go through this life-changing procedure.
We are truly grateful for the opportunity to treat patients like Jack and give them back the smile and function they have been missing for so many years.
Congratulations on your new smile, Jack!
All the best,
Dr. Robert L. Harrell and The Team at Harrell Dental Implant Center
